About The Band

Lightning Creek is a Twin Cities area band playing current and classic country, along with a mix of upbeat rock throughout Minnesota. Four musicians comprise Lightning Creek, each with significant career experience. They know an extensive list of over 300 songs and take their audience’s requests to play whatever they’re in the mood for. Lightning Creek delivers energizing performances playing music they love, creating a fun and enjoyable experience for their audiences.

The band has performed at premier night clubs in the five-state area, casinos, street dances, music in the park, private parties and over 100 wedding receptions.

 

Vern Johnson

Vern is the lead vocalist and founding member of Lightning Creek. He also plays rhythm and acoustic guitar. During his music career Vern has warmed up for nationally recognized acts including Alabama, Mark Wills, Don Williams, and David Kersh. He was a finalist in the 2010 Minnesota Duet Championship held annually at the Minnesota State Fair.

 

Dan Elliott

Dan is a very experienced drummer and a strong lead vocalist. He is the most accomplished musician in the band with an impressive resume. Dan has played with regional groups including Sherwin Linton, The Del Counts, and The White Sidewalls. He has also played for various national acts such as Del Shannon, The Castaways, Tommy Roe, Brian Adams, and Gary U.S Bonds to name a few.

 

Greg Mosner

Greg is the lead guitarist and an original member of Lightning Creek. He has played with the regional country band Westbound, plays in an Irish acoustical ensemble, and has recorded an album of his own music.

 

Duane Stombaugh

Duane is the keyboardist. He was the founder and leader of The Dixie Hicks, a regional country band, and played many years with his Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Band. Duane writes and records his own original music.
